Admission to all programmes is open to any applicant who demonstrates suitability for it, and is normally subject to interview and the scrutiny of practical work. Besides, you must meet the official requirements of secondary education (sufficient school leaving qualifications). A secondary school diploma is required for entering a bachelor’s degree programme. For the master’s degree programme Type & Media, an undergraduate diploma or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
The Academy also welcomes applications for direct entry into the second year of some courses from individuals who can demonstrate satisfactory completion of appropriate work or studies.

How to apply?
We do not work with an application form but you must take an entrance assessment. For this purpose you need to bring a portfolio with you. Depending on the chosen department monthly sessions are scheduled between January and June 2007. To make an appointment for an entrance assessment please contact our student administration. Tel. + 31703154745 or 746 or email n.aben@kabk.nl or s.vanderkist@kabk.nl.

International students from EU and non EU
Students not residing in the Netherlands yet are invited to send a portfolio, a CV and a motivation letter to our student administration by mail. After the assessment you will be informed whether you can continue with the admission procedure or not.

Portfolio advice
A portfolio of artwork should be a collection of your best and most recent work. It is a crucial part of your application to a professional art school. The portfolio helps the school evaluate your achievements and potential, and represents your view of yourself and your work.

Many different portfolios are necessary during your career as an artist: for graduate school, exhibits, galleries, buyers and employers. The preparation of each portfolio varies according to its purpose. The portfolio required for application at the Royal Academy of Art should include fifteen to twenty photos, slides or CD's. Fewer pieces may not allow an accurate assessment of your potential.

Linguistic requirements
All undergraduate programmes at Kabk are taught in Dutch. Therefore you are strongly advised to take an intensive Dutch language course once you started your study programme in The Hague.

Most of our teachers and students do speak English as well. An essential requirement for foreign students wishing to enter the Academy is that they are able to understand, speak, read and write English at a good level. If your English is not good enough, you first should study English in your home country, and then enrol in a degree course. Foreign students must demonstrate ability in written and spoken English.

Tuition fee
The tuition fee for the academic year 2007-2008 is fixed on € 1519,- per year excluding materials. The materials will cost you approximately € 680,- per year.
