Students will need insurance during their stay in the Netherlands. Students from non-EU/EEA countries will need a Dutch medical insurance, being one of the requirements for a residence permit (see: Residence permits).
The Insurance Passport for Students (IPS) covers students who go abroad for study or exchange programmes. It offers extensive coverage for medical and urgent dental treatment, special expenses and assistance, accidents, liability, legal assistance and loss of luggage. The cover is valid from the moment students leave their home until their return within the dates stated on the policy. The cover is also valid for in-between vacations or short breaks during this time.
