Since 2001 the Interfaculty offers a two-years study on MA level focussing on creation, research and development. The study is based on an individual research plan written by the applicants. The students are coached by two teachers on an individual basis. Depending on their specific backgrounds, students are stimulated to follow introductory courses in order to compensate for deficiencies and to follow specialized courses offered by the Master of Mediatechnology program of the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Studies. Next to this they are invited to participate in ArtScience research group in the fields of their personal interests. During their studies students are participating in the world of art by presenting their work at experimental art venues such as STEIM, V2_, < tag >, Lazy Mary, etc. and at festivals such as Sonic Acts (Amsterdam), 2Days Art (The Hague), the Dutch Electronic Arts Festival (Rotterdam), Transmediale (Berlin), European Sculpture Biennale (Carrara), etc. www.kabk.nl and www.interfaculty.nl

Admission
Applicants for the MA program Creation, Research and Development should contact study co-coordinator Horst Rickels by email (horst.rickels@interfaculty.nl). The selection procedure for the MA program is basically the same as that for the BA program, with two major exceptions. Only candidates with a BA degree in the arts and/or sciences may apply, and they must write a research plan including clear and detailed descriptions of the field and theme of their research, in what ways the theme is related to the ArtScience curriculum, what materials and equipment they need for their research, in what context they want to present their results, and with whom they want to study. MA candidates must send a letter of motivation, a portfolio, a research plan or model, and the required official documents before June 15.
